Operation Backpack is our Child Nutrition Program that sends kids home with extra food to have over the weekend when they do not have access to school meals. Some kids need support beyond what they get from our Operation Backpack bags, and these food boxes are to meet that increased need.
This volunteer opportunity will be packing pantry staples into boxes that will be distributed to school families in the St. Louis area. Volunteers will be using tape dispensers to make boxes, filling each box with about 15 set menu items, folding the boxes closed, and stacking them on pallets. Our goal is to pack 60 boxes during this volunteer shift. It may not take the entire two hours to complete this task.
This opportunity will require repetitive movements and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Please wear closed-toed shoes and wear clothes you are comfortable wearing in a warehouse setting.
