Volunteer Groups
Volunteers are essential to the success of Operation Food Search, and donating time is a great way to help feed the hungry in our communities. Every year, more than 7,500 volunteers donate more than 22,000 hours to help our neighbors in need.
Group/Team Building Projects
Distribution/Volunteer Center Duties: Help in our logistical nerve center where we distribute food, personal care, and household items to more than 200,000 people every month. We depend on community volunteers to help sort, organize, and pack food and goods that will be picked up by our community food partners and given to children and families in need. Dress casually and wear closed-toe shoes.
Help Keep Food Donations Safe: Operation Food Search works with organizations throughout the year to hold food drives. These food drives collect collect high demand shelf-stable food. These donations are shared with our partner agencies at no cost. Food drive donations are stored and transported in large barrels. During the summer months we have opportunities for volunteers to have a barrel cleaning party in our parking lot. Cleaning food drive barrels on an annual bases helps keep food donations clean and safe for families to eat.
Rap ‘N Pack: Step up your commitment to feeding kids by combining teambuilding, community service, and philanthropy. You bring the people, and OFS supplies the fun by providing appetizers, adult beverages, and music! The event can be tailored to fit your needs, and typically takes place after business hours. Your donation helps cover the cost of food.
Volunteer opportunities for Operation Backpack are only available during the school year.
