Description

Join us at the Danforth Plant Science Farm in St. Charles, MO. We will be harvesting sweet corn to share with families in need through Operation Food Search's network of partner agencies. This farm is part of a plant science research center that is working to find new possibilities for healthier crops and more productive farming communities to support global food security.

Gleaning is harvesting crops from farms and gardens that would otherwise go unused and donating them to individuals and families within Operation Food Search's network of food pantries. It is a great opportunity for volunteers to learn about our local food system and expand their knowledge around farming and gardening practices while making an impact on their community.

Dress Code:

Wear layered, comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Be mindful of the weather forecast and dress accordingly: rain jackets, water resistant shoes like work boots or hiking shoes are recommended. Closed-toe shoes are required. Sun hats and sunscreen are encouraged as well.

Volunteers under the age of 16 are allowed but must be accompanied by an adult.
