Operation Food Search's Summer Meals Program is a USDA-funded food service program that provides nutritional meals to kids under 18 in the St. Louis area. We sponsor almost 40 sites where kids can drop in during food service times to get a free meal while they do not have access to school lunches over the summer months.
This volunteer opportunity will be packing shelf-stable meals that will be delivered to our sites and handed directly to the children. We will provide the food items and instructions on how to bag the items, count them into storage bins, and break down the cardboard and plastic waste from the packaging.
Please wear closed-toed shoes, comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little bit dirty, and bring a water bottle (drinking fountains also available). We will be standing at the packing tables in our Volunteer Center for the entirety of this event.
Depending on how many orders we have this week and how fast we pack, this opportunity may not take the full two hours that are posted.
