April Showers

April Showers is a program organized by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri that helps collect millions of personal care items that help families in need throughout the region.

Operation Food Search is proud to be the distribution partner for this amazing event! Donated items include, but are not limited to, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, paper towels, toilet paper, tampons, pads and more.

These items are distributed to Operation Food Search's partner agencies to be shared with families in need at no cost!

As the distribution partner of April Showers, Operation Food Search is in need of volunteers to help ensure a successful event for 2025! Volunteers play a critical role in helping to collect, organize, and pack the donated items. Volunteers help ensure the donated items can be quickly and efficiently distributed to families. 

On April 12th the Girl Scouts throughout the area will collect donated personal care items and bring them to multiple locations where Operation Food Search volunteers pack the donations into boxes, palletize the boxes, and place them in a large trailer. The trailers are then driven to Operation Food Search for the donated items to be distributed. Volunteer ages vary, you must be at least 12 to volunteer with an adult or 16 to volunteer individually.
