Each week we pack around 3,000 bags of food and this means we go through several pallets of food to fill these bags. Volunteers are needed to prepare the backpack area with these food items before the packing takes place. Tasks include breaking down bulk packages of items like raisins, oatmeal, etc., unwrapping cases of canned goods and stacking them so that they can be easily packed into the backpacks, and building cardboard boxes for the food to be packed into for delivery. This activity is available on Tuesdays between 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM, but volunteers are welcome to stay through the duration of the packing until 12:00 PM. It generally takes about one to two hours to complete the project.
