Join us at Theodora Farms in Godfrey, IL. We will be harvesting cabbage to share with families in need through Operation Food Search's network of partner agencies. This farm started in 2019 and since 2022 is a proud USDA Certified Organic farm dedicated to growing the freshest, most nourishing produce for the St. Louis Metropolitan Area and Illinois Riverbend Region. They are passionate about sustainability, local food systems, and providing healthy options that you can feel good about.
Gleaning is harvesting crops from farms and gardens that would otherwise go unused and donating them to individuals and families within Operation Food Search's network of food pantries. It is a great opportunity for volunteers to learn about our local food system and expand their knowledge around farming and gardening practices while making an impact on their community.
Dress Code:
Wear layered, comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Be mindful of the weather forecast and dress accordingly: rain jackets, water resistant shoes like work boots or hiking shoes are recommended. Closed-toe shoes are required. Sun hats and sunscreen are encouraged as well.
Volunteers under the age of 16 are allowed but must be accompanied by an adult.
