Volunteer: Warehouse Perishable Support VolunteerPosition: Warehouse Perishable Support. In order to distribute the large quantities of food safely and efficiently, we rely on packing carts for distribution. This position would require that you lift boxes of food and drinks with varying weights and sizes on to carts while in an industrial cooler. You may also be asked to pack miscellaneous food boxes, sort bread or any other tasks related to morning distribution. Physical requirements: The morning distribution packer position requires lifting, bending and standing for long periods of time. Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, lift 20-40 lbs., be on your feet for 3 hours (8 am-11 am) and able to work in cold conditions. Candidate will be asked to pack inside large 40° walk-in cooler. Gloves will be provided. Please wear appropriate warm clothing. Setting: Position is located at Operation Food Search in the distribution warehouse and in a 40° walk-in cooler. The main warehouse does have some temperature control measures, but due to the large garage doors sitting open for distribution it is difficult to control the warehouse temperature during extreme conditions. Training: Training for position will be conducted on-site. Please enter Operation Food Search's facility at the door next to garage door number 10 & 11. Please ring the doorbell to let OFS staff know you are there if the garage door is not open. Ask for Hava Stevenson or Casey Jones when you arrive.
